I hope you’ve already applied to attend the February 13th digital judge conference “For the Love of Judging” (click the link to do so, you may have to log into Judge Academy first).
It’s my honor to present to you the working schedule for the event*. (Note: Time may adjust as needed.)
9:00 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. Join Ryan Sears and myself, Mark Mason, as we interview Vince C. aka Pleasant Kenobi on “Is 2021 Your Year to be a Subject Matter Expert or to Work with an Established One?”
Vince who is more than 3/4ths of the way to 100,000 subscribers is quite a character and will be sharing everything we ask about being a YouTube personality or working with others.
10:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m Shyam Bhardwa will share how to cultivate player groups even while isolated.
Shyam promises that Attendees will learn:
- Ideas and thought processes to create engaging events that can be held even in isolation
- Considerations that are important to keep in mind whilst trying to plan inclusive events
- How to approach and foster a sense of community within the player base during quarantine and without physical contact.
Noon to 1:15 p.m. David Elden will Host “Rulesday Live”. Rulesday Tuesday is the longest running, real-time judge training project on Facebook. Join David to experience mentorship and shared learning. This segment will be highly interactive so have you mic and/or cameras ready!
If this is your first experience with voluntary projects, maybe you’ll find a new inspiration for your judging activities!
1:30 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. Meg Baum will be presenting on “Appropriate Social Behavior between Judges” She will explore what dating, romantic relationships, and even our friendships have to do with Magic Judging, and what kind of impact they can have..
Magic judging is certainly guided by many of aspects of “workplace relationships”; however, how is it different from other jobs? Join to find out!
3:00 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. Isaac King will share with us “For the Love of the Rules”.
In this session he will share methods for mastery of the rules and how our isolation is an ideal time to sharpen our skills. Isaac will also be sharing an “invitational tutorial” for his own self-quizzing website “RulesGuru.net“.
4:30 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. CoriAnn Theroux will be sharing “From Judge Skills to Business Skills” how judging helped and supported her creation of her baking business, Bee Sweet Bakery. CoriAnn, an amazing L2 judge, said of judging today, “Judging has become more than answering card interactions. We need to be more diverse in our skill sets.”
As you likely noticed this conference is a little different. In order to create this test, the event is a voluntary one. You are welcome to attend as many or as few sessions as you wish; however, the event is not foil supported for attendees.
Fear not; however, I plan to do a foil supported event in Q2 or more likely Q3 of 2021 and I will give priority enrollment to those who apply and/or attend this one!
This event will take place on Zoom.
